Dear Year 6 Parents/Carers,
For a number of years now pupils from Carr Hill have experience of a residential educational visit each year between Year 3 and Y6. In Years 3, 4 and 5 we go to an outdoor activity residential centre in Scotland and in year 6 we either go to London or Paris, depending on the maturity of the year group.
Our Year 6 here in White Mere are a mature group and I’d like to explore initial thoughts as to whether there is enough interest to take this group of children to London after their SATs in June.
I’m proposing the visit could be three days, two nights travelling by train and staying in a Premier Inn sometime week commencing 5th June 2017.
The itinerary would include a visit to Parliament to look at our democratic system, meeting our constituency MP, Stephen Hepburn and touring Westminster with a guide discussing the role of our Monarchy, the House of Lords and elected members of the House of Commons.
We would include a well walked route around central London where we visit Downing Street, Trafalgar Square, and Buckingham Palace etc. Depending on cost we can include additional experiences such as the London Eye and a River Thames Cruise.
Breakfast would be taken in the hotel and we’d have a sandwich & fruit lunch with an evening meal in one of three restaurants we use who welcome us with open arms.
I can provide you with a fuller itinerary once I see how many of our Y6s want to come with us.
Cost wise I can give a ball park figure of approximately £130/£140 for the 3 days, including rail fare, tube tickets, bed and breakfast accommodation and food. We can start a savings club straight away so the full amount does not have to be paid upfront if that option is needed.
Can you let me know if this visit is something you’d like your Y6 son/daughter to join? Please tear off the slip found on the original letter and return it to Mrs Hutchinson or Mrs Titterton by Wednesday next week.
