Our governing body Headteacher appointment sub-group met yesterday to review the applications which have been received for the substantive Headteacher post which was recently advertised for our school.
I have been asked to correspond with you to let you know Governors were able to shortlist enough candidates to proceed to interview. The interviews will be held over two days in the first week of April.
Candidates will spend the first day in school where they will observe teaching and learning and then carry out a book scrutiny. They will then be interviewed by a panel of Y5 & Y6 children who will ask questions they have prepared beforehand. During lunch the candidates will have the opportunity to meet staff and governors.
On day two of their interview candidates will face a number of enquiry tasks, be required to deliver an ‘unseen’ presentation and then be interviewed by members of the Governing Body and Local Authority Head of School Support Service.
It is hoped governors will be able to make an appointment following this second day and convey the outcome to you shortly after.
I’d like to also take this opportunity to announce the retirement of our school caretaker, Mr Alex Raynor. Alex has been our caretaker since 2010 and it’s now time for him to hang up his bin bags, hoover and school keys! Alex will be leaving us at the end of this school term as we break up for Easter. I have arranged for Dennis Sanderson, a relief caretaker to temporarily fill Alex’s shoes until the end of this school year.
Tomorrow is BBC Comic Relief, Red Nose Day. Don’t forget our children can come to school wearing their pyjamas (with a £1.00 donation) and they can donate any spare loose change which will all be donated to the Comic relief charity.
Easter is just a round the corner (we break up on Friday 7th April 2017). However, before then we need to invite you and your children to be ready for our annual decorate a hard boiled egg competition. Details of this will be circulated next week. The theme this year will be ‘pop groups/pop stars’. Get planning!
