Dear Parents and Carers,
I just wanted to send a letter about After School Clubs for next half term. We’ll be offering a range of clubs and, as we did this half term, please register your interest by emailing the member of staff identified below. Where there is more interest than places, names will be drawn out of a hat. If a child has missed out on a club in the past, they will be given priority this time around.

Reception Class Developmental Movement Club
This club will take place in the school hall on a Monday between 3.15 and 4.00pm with Mrs Lowrie (leannelowrie@whitemereprimary.org). Due to the physical nature of the club, spaces are limited to 15 pupils. There is no charge attached to this club.  Children will be collected from the Reception class door afterwards.

Year 1-6 Karate Club
There has already been a letter about this popular club and you will be aware that we have now opened it up to our KS1 children. There are two places left should anyone else wish to join – just email the office (admin@whitemereprimary.org). This club is open to all children from Years 1-6. There is a charge of £2.50 per session for this club. Children will be collected from the KS2 yard at the end of each session.

KS2 Gymnastics
This club will take place in the school hall on a Wednesday between 3.30 and 4.30pm with Miss Allsopp (rachaelallsopp@whitemereprimary.org). We have only been able to offer 3 sessions of this club this half term so we would like to invite the children currently attending to continue if they would like to do so. If your child wants to continue, please can you email confirmation to Miss Allsopp. Please note, from the second week of next half term, we will be splitting the club into two sections as we need to prepare a team for a competition – this will mean that the club will finish at 4.15pm for most children, while the small number of children who will be in the team will have a team practice until 4.35pm. We will send a letter explaining this in more detail after half term. Children will be collected from the KS2 yard at the end of each session.

Year 3 & 4 Craft Club
This club will take place in the Year 3 classroom on a Wednesday between 3.30 and 4.30pm with Miss Grant (joannegrant@whitemereprimary.org). This club is open to all Yr 3 & 4 children. Spaces are limited to 14 pupils. As we need to buy resources for craft making activities, there is a small charge of £1.50 per session for this club. Children will be collected from the KS2 yard at the end of each session.

Year 3 & 4 Tennis Club
This club will take place in the school hall on a Thursday between 3.30 and 4.30pm with a Gateshead Sports Partnership coach Jake Midgley (admin@whitemereprimary.org). This club is open to all Yr 3 & 4 children. Spaces are limited to 16 pupils. To cover the cost of the coach, there is a charge of £2.50 per session for this club. Children will be collected from the KS2 yard at the end of each session.

Year 5 & 6 Cupcake Club
This club will take place in the Year 5 classroom on a Thursday between 3.30 and 4.30pm with Mrs Cutter (admin@whitemereprimary.org). This club is open to all Yr 5 & 6 children. Spaces are limited to 12 pupils. As we need to buy resources for craft making activities, there is a small charge of £1.50 per session for this club. Children will be collected from the KS2 yard at the end of each session.

Clubs will begin straight after half term (w/c 19th February) and will run for 5 weeks as there will be no clubs in the last week of term (w/c 26th March) apart from Karate Club, which will take place in the last week. The teachers leading the club will email you to confirm your child’s place no later than Monday 19th February – if you don’t hear from them, it means that unfortunately your child does not have a place this time but they will become a priority for the next round of clubs.

Best wishes,

Chris Boddy
