Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope this letter finds you well as we enter the final four weeks of the school year. There’s a lot to fit into the end of the term and I wanted to share information about some of these important events.
Just a reminder that both our Early Years Sports Day and our Years 1-6 Sports Days will take place on Wednesday 11th July. The Early Years Sports Day (for our Nursery and Reception children) will take place at 10.00am and our Years 1-6 Sports Day will start at 1.30pm. Both events will take place on the school field and entry is via the side gate which leads directly onto the yard/field. We will be selling drinks, ice pops and snacks so do bring along a few coins as well!
The Summer Fayre is taking place on the afternoon of Friday 13th July and will run from 2.30 – 4.30pm. Each class will be preparing things to sell at their stall and the PTA are already planning and organising a range of other exciting stalls and activities. There’ll be more information nearer the time.
Assemblies…Leavers’, Music, Reception and Retirement!
The last week of term will be packed with important assemblies…
- On Tuesday 17th July at 9.15am we will be having an assembly to wish Mr Kidd a very happy retirement as he has decided to hang up his headteacher’s jacket at the end of term. He made a big difference to White Mere and any parents who would like to join us for this assembly are very welcome.
- On Tuesday 17th July at 2.00pm we will be having our Summer Music Assembly when Mr Nicholson and his many musicians will be presenting a selection of their work. Parents of children who have individual music tuition with Mr Nicholson are most welcome, as is any other parent or carer who might simply want to hear some impressive musical recital!
- On Wednesday 18th July at 2.30pm we will be having a special graduation assembly for our Reception children. Parents and carers of the Reception children are all very welcome.
- Finally on Friday 20th July at 9.30am our Year 6 class will be holding their Leavers’ Assembly. This will be an emotional event I’m sure and parents and carers of the Year 6 pupils are welcome to join us for this special assembly.
We will be having our third sticker swap this Thursday to help those children with their collections of World Cup stickers, so if your child is interested, make sure they bring in their swaps (and their album if they need to).
Our final parents’ evenings of the year will be held over the coming weeks and letters will be going out to each year group. As we have had two parents’ evenings already and you will also be receiving your child’s end of year report, it is not essential that you attend this round of parents’ evenings. If you would like to, we will be very happy to see you and discuss your child’s year but equally, if you don’t have anything you feel you need to discuss, you don’t need to make an appointment.
We have had some very impressive performances in the past week from two of our teams. The Gymnastics Team came second in the Gateshead Schools’ Key Steps Competition! This is a fantastic achievement and the girls in the team, along with Miss Allsopp, have worked extremely hard and thoroughly deserve this brilliant result. We are really proud of them – well done! Following on from that, on Friday afternoon the Girls Football Team came second on the final stage of the Gateshead Schools competition which is another great achievement! Mr Noble was delighted by the commitment and the skill shown by the team so a huge well done to the girls and to Mr Noble as well!
As usual, if there is anything at all that you want to discuss, please do not hesitate to contact me at school.
