Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you’re all getting into the festive spirit as we head towards Christmas – I know we are now at our busiest point in the school year! There are many events in the coming fortnight and I wanted to share a little about them.
Fundraising for the KS2 Yard – Update
Following our KS2 cinema night, the PTA has now added a further £282 to our KS2 fund, meaning we are now at a grand total of £6,564! Thank you so much for all of the support you as parents are showing – it is going to make such a difference to school. Can I also take this opportunity to thank the PTA for the huge amount of effort and time they are giving to school – it is greatly appreciated.
White Mere Christmas Fayre – Friday 7th December at 2.45-4.15pm
As you know, we are having a Christmas Fayre in school this Friday from 2.45pm. Parents and carers are welcome to collect their children from 2.45pm from the KS1 yard and then come and browse among our stalls and enjoy a drink and a cake. Each class is making Christmas gifts or treats to sell and the PTA have organised a range of additional stalls. There will also be the chance to see Santa for any children who would like to (children in Nursery-Year 2 have the chance to do this during the morning in school time as explained on the recent letter from the PTA). It is likely that it will be busy in school at the beginning of the Fayre so we do ask for your understanding if things move slowly at first!
Year 1 Christmas Trip to Gibside – Monday 10th December
Year 1 are going to Gibside for their Christmas treat this coming Monday where they will be completing a Christmas trail. I’m sure they’ll have a lovely time!
Nursery and Reception Visit to West Boldon Lodge – Tuesday 11th December
The children in Nursery and Reception are visiting West Boldon Lodge for their Christmas treat. This will take place on Tuesday 11th December between 1.30 and 3.30pm. As a result, on Tuesday 11th December we are asking Nursery parents to bring their children in for the afternoon instead of the morning. Please note, the visit will not return to school until around 4.00pm and children should be collected from the KS1 yard.
Music Performance – Wednesday 12th December
Those children who are having individual music lessons in school will be putting on a Christmas performance on Wednesday 12th December at 2.15pm. I know parents of the children involved have already been informed of this event but if any other parents or carers want to attend, they are very welcome. Parents and carers of the children involved are welcome to take their child home from the performance, which will take place in the school hall.
Christingle Service – Thursday 13th December at 6pm
School will be having its now traditional Christingle Service in St Andrew’s Church. The service will be at 6pm and involve pupils from Year 3-6.

Each session will starts at 2.00pm and will last for about an hour, giving you the chance to see how the children learn and enjoy time doing activities with them. Please let us know if you’d like to come as there will be 10 places at each session.
Reception & KS1 Nativity – 17th December
Just a reminder that our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children will be putting on a Christmas Nativity for parents in the school hall on Monday 17th December. There will be two performances, one at 9.30am and then again at 2.30pm.
School Christmas Dinner – Tuesday 18th December
We will be having our school Christmas Dinner on Tuesday 18th December. All of our school meals are very tasty and I’m sure that this one will be no different! Can any children who would like to have a Christmas Dinner please let their class teacher know by this Friday, 7th December.
Year 2-6 Pantomime Trip – Wednesday 19th December
Our Year 2-6 children will be enjoying Aladdin at Gateshead Stadium on the afternoon of Wednesday 19th December. We are anticipating that we will be back at school between 4.00-4.15pm and children should be collected from the KS1 yard.
KS2 Cricket Club
We have the opportunity to offer a KS2 Cricket Club after school during the Spring Term for the first time. The club is with a registered cricket coach (Surj Singh) and would take place on a Thursday after school. There would be a small charge for each session. As it would be a new club, we need to know of the levels of interest, so if your child might be interested in the club, please can you let us know so we can confirm the booking – simply email the office on email@example.com.
As usual, if there is anything at all that you want to discuss, please do not hesitate to contact me.
