Dear Parents and Carers,

I just wanted to send a letter about School Clubs for this half term. We’ll be offering a range of clubs and, where necessary, please register your interest by emailing the member of staff identified below. Where there is more interest than places, names will be drawn out of a hat. If a child misses out on a club, they will be given priority next time around.

Gymnastics Team (Mondays after school) Gymnastics will be continuing this half term – the club is already full following the trials last term and will be taking place from Monday 29th April. The club will continue to run from 3.30pm, with KS1 children being collected at 4.00pm and KS2 children being collected at 4.30pm from the KS2 yard.

Year 1-6 Karate Club (Tuesdays, 3.30-4.30pm) This club continues to be open to all children from Years 1-6. Should anyone wish to join, just email the office (whitemere@gatedu.org). There is a charge of £2.50 per session for this club. Children will be collected from the KS2 yard at the end of each session.

Year 4-6 Dance Club (Wednesdays, 3.30-4.30pm) We are very pleased to be able to offer this popular club once again and it is open to all children in Year 4, 5 and 6. If your child would like to take part, just email the office (whitemere@gatedu.org). The club will start on Wednesday 1st May and there is a charge of £2.50 per session for this club. Children will be collected from the KS2 yard at the end of each session.

Year 3-6 Chinese Calligraphy Club (Thursdays, 3.30-4.15pm) This popular club continues to be run by Mrs Meng-Birkett and is open to pupils in Years 3-6. There are still some places and they will learn to write Chinese characters, so it is almost more like an art club! If your child would like to take part, just email the office (whitemere@gatedu.org). There is no charge for this club.

Year 1-2 Cupcake Decorating Club (Thursdays, 3.30-4.15pm) This very popular club is being run by Mrs Cutter and is already full as we have allocated the places to those children who missed out last time Year 1 and 2 were accessing the club. There is a charge of £2.00 per session for this club. Children will be collected from the KS2 yard at the end of each session.

Clubs have either begun this week or will begin next week (w/c 29th April) and end in the last week of this half term apart from the Gymnastics Team which will practise each week until the competition in June. Where necessary, the teachers leading the club will email you to confirm your child’s place – if you don’t hear from them, it means that unfortunately your child does not have a place this time but they will become a priority for the next round of clubs.

Best wishes,

Chris Boddy
