Year 4

Jonathon Noble
Year 4

Welcome to Year 4!

Year 4 haven’t wasted a second since returning from their summer break! They’ve hit the ground running and are storming enthusiastically into each lesson. Within maths, they have been working at re-establishing their understanding of number and place value while also working hard to improve their scores in their weekly arithmetic tests. It’s been great to see them challenge themselves in our problem solving lessons and as I’m sure they’ll tell you, being stuck in maths just makes your brain grow.

In contrast, our English lessons have been chock full of language, and drama as we have begun to examine our latest text “The Green Ship” by Quentin Blake. Examining illustrations and using powerful noun phrases, metaphor and simile, the children have really impressed with their mature and appropriate use of language.

Finally, we have eagerly begun our latest creative curriculum topic in which we teach many subjects discretely through an overreaching period of history or stimulus. This term it has been the turn of… THE VIKINGS! The children have wowed Mr Boddy with their knowledge when he recently popped his head into our classroom and they are currently gathering notes from various sources to extend into complex sentences and create a non-chronological report based on their lives.

Stay tuned to our TWITTER feed for all our latest, daily updates…
